Clearing the payment fog
Nook is a B2B payments platform built to simplify the messy middle: automating accounting, streamlining multi-currency payments, and tightening up approval workflows.
They had a working product and a solid mission - but needed a design partner to unify the experience, reimagine the UX, and build something as sharp and seamless as the product’s promise.
They came in with working parts. They left with a product designed to lead.

From functional to frictionless
Nook’s internal team had built a solid product foundation - but like many early-stage tools, it was stitched together with speed in mind, not long-term polish. The bones were good. The experience? A little inconsistent.
The business goal was clear: differentiate from legacy providers by making B2B payments feel effortless. The challenge was making that promise show up in the product itself - visually, experientially, and emotionally.

A UX built on confidence
As always, we started with a brand sprint to anchor around vision, values, and audience. From there, we mapped where the current product was falling short and where the opportunity was to make things simpler, cleaner, and smarter.
Rather than bulldozing the interface, we worked closely with the Nook team to evolve it. The new design language was introduced gradually, reducing friction for users and aligning the team behind a consistent, modern system.
Inspired by tools users already trusted, we built something that felt familiar yet refined—layering clarity, trust, and ease into every interaction. We rethought the money flows, refined the invoicing, and gave features like wallets and multi-currency handling the structure and visibility they deserved.

One language across every touchpoint
The result was a cohesive design system that now underpins Nook’s entire platform. It’s scalable, structured, and expressive—giving the team a shared visual vocabulary they can apply across product, marketing, and beyond.
We designed primarily for desktop, but ensured responsive behaviours across smaller screens too—so managing money is just as smooth on the go as it is in the office.
And the timing? Four months. From audit to implementation.
“It’s been a pleasure working with The Bang. The attention to detail has been incredible and their knowledge of the financial space took us by surprise.”
