Climbing the digital wall
The indoor climbing community lacked a unified platform to track progress, navigate facilities, and engage climbers of all levels. Griptonite aimed to fill this gap but needed a clear vision and design direction to bring their innovative ideas to life.
They approached us with an easy-to-understand challenge: create the Strava for climbing.

Building a brand that sticks
We began with a brand sprint to align on goals and identify key user needs. The challenge was twofold: make the sport accessible to newcomers and retain experienced climbers through engaging technology. Our solution was to gamify the climbing experience and enable progression, making it both fun and functional.
We developed a vibrant, youthful brand identity that resonated with the climbing community. The design system included reusable components, ensuring consistency and scalability across the platform. Typography and colour choices were made to reflect the dynamic nature of climbing while maintaining clarity and usability.

Reaching the summit
Griptonite has become a go-to training tool for thousands of climbers worldwide and is now implemented in hundreds of gyms. The platform’s success is a testament to the collaborative effort between our teams and the shared passion for climbing.

Designing the ascent
Our UX approach focused on creating an intuitive and engaging user journey. We integrated features like digital logbooks, progress tracking, and social elements to foster community and competition. The app’s interface was designed to be sleek and user-friendly, catering to climbers of all skill levels.
We also developed tools for gym operators, including analytics dashboards and competition management features, enhancing the overall value proposition of Griptonite.

“The most collaborative group of people we’ve worked with. They’re sh*t hot, and know how to make a product standout without losing focus.”
